How do I add my existing Product List to the iPhone / iPad versions of Invoice2go?

An easy to use product sync feature is currently under development. Until this feature is ready we’ve provided a work around, which is detailed below.

Backup your Invoice2go for iPhone / iPad database

  1. Save the backup file to your desktop as we will need it for later steps.

Export your Product List from Invoice2go and set the Correct Format

  1. Open Invoice2go for the desktop.
  2. From the Company menu select Open Lookup List, then Products and Services and then click Export.
  3. Save the exported file with the name “product” and from the "Save as type" menu select "CSV with Headers" and an encoding of UTF8.

    Failure to follow these steps correctly will induce an error in later steps.
  4. Open the newly saved product.csv file in Microsoft Excel. Re-arrange the columns to match the following screenshot and edit the header descriptions to the match:



    • Column A is productID and will be blank.
    • Column B is code and will contain your Item Codes.
    • Column C is description and will contain your Item Descriptions.
    • Column D is rate and will contain your Item Price Values.
    • Column E is taxable and will display if the Item is Taxable or not.
    • Column F is cost and will contain your Item Cost Values.

  5. Save your Product List as a Text (Tab delimited) file. Click Yes if Excel warns about losing any formatting errors.
  6. Your Product List is now ready for merging with your iPhone/iPad database.

Open your Invoice2go for iPhone / iPad database

  1. We have used Navicat Lite for the rest of this guide. Download and install Navicat Lite Navicat Lite Download.

  2. Open Navicat Lite, Click File -> New Connections -> SQLite from the file menu.
  3. Name the Connection "import" and browse to the Invoice2go Database Backup you saved earlier. Click OK


  4. Now open the "import" database connection and browse to the products table. It is located under import -> main -> Tables -> product.


  5. Right click on the "product" table and select "Import Wizard".

Import your Product List to the Invoice2go for iPhone / iPad database

  1. Select Text File and Click Next.
  2. In the "Import from" browse to the "products.csv" file you created in the earlier steps and click OK. The Encoding should be 65001 (UTF-8). Click Next.


  3. On this page leave all the options as they are. Click Next. They should be set to the following;


  4. Set the "Field name row" to 1 and the "First data row" to 2. Click Next.


  5. Set the "Source Table" to "products" and the "Target Table" to "product". Click Next.


  6. Set the following options - make sure the Source Field for productID is blank


  7. Leave the Import options as "Append" and click Next


  8. Start the Import and if all the options were configured correctly you will see the following screenshot


  9. Click Close and you will be ready to restore your items to your iPhone / iPad

Restore the Completed Backup file to your iPhone / iPad

  • Now the Product List merge is complete you can restore the merged iPhone / iPad backup file back to your device. Detailed restore instructions are on the Restore Backup FAQ article.
